Born and educated in New Zealand, Lynley Dodd is a graduate of the Elam School of Fine Arts in Auckland. She has written more than thirty picture books and has won many prizes for her work. She lives in Tauranga with her fiendish Burmese cat, Suu Kyi. The Hairy Maclary series is an international classic and foreign language editions have been published in Sweden, Japan, Slovenia, Russia, Korea and China. In July 2013 Hairy Maclary celebrated his 30th birthday.
