Anne Freeman
From her little teak desk on Wurundjeri land in Melbourne, Anne Freeman writes contemporary fiction about women who are stuck in life and the extraordinary ways they shake themselves loose. Her stories are always engaging and sometimes funny with thrilling adventures, sexy escapades and friendships that uplift.
Anne's debut novel, RETURNING TO ADELAIDE was released by Hawkeye Publishing in March 2022. It was a finalist in the 2021 Romance Writers of Australia Valerie Parv Award and was longlisted in the 2021 Hawkeye Publishing Manuscript Development Prize.
Anne's second novel, ME THAT YOU SEE, was shortlisted in the 2022 Hawkeye Publishing Manuscript Development Prize, longlisted in the 2023 Grindstone Literary International Novel Prize, and shortlisted in the 2025 Queensland Writers' Centre Adaptable Competition.
Anne’s third novel, THE TIME AFTER NOW, was awarded second place in the 2025 CYA Writers & Illustrators Conference Competition (Published: Writing for Adults) and longlisted in the 2025 Somerset Book Awards novel competition for Literary and Contemporary Fiction. It is an unflinching Own Voices portrayal of invisible disability and a thrilling exploration of sextortion and the Madonna–whore complex, set against Melbourne’s rave scene. The novel delves into the ripple effects caused by the decisions of our youth.
